Thiruvananthapuram: Union Minister of State for Petroleum, Suresh Gopi, has claimed that Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan once invited him to join the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)].

Speaking at an event on Thursday, Gopi said, "Let him (Vijayan) deny it if he can. I told him that I cannot join the party as I do not like politics, and that was the same response I gave to all political leaders."

Gopi further stated that while he had initially resisted entering politics, certain incidents on August 2, 2014, compelled him to do so, though he did not elaborate on what those incidents were.

He also claimed that the CPI(M) had attempted to support him, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

Belagavi: In a noteworthy incident from the village of Koujalagi in Gokak taluk, Belagavi district, a woman used the funds received from the Gruhalakshmi Scheme to book a bike for her son.

The woman, identified as Bagavva Sannakki from Koujalagi village, utilised the Gruhalakshmi scheme money she had saved to make a down payment for her son's bike.

Reacting to this, Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar expressed happiness, stating that it was heartening to hear that a mother had decided to gift her son a two-wheeler using the funds received from the Gruhalakshmi scheme during the festival of Mahanavami. She also extended her congratulations to the mother and son.

The Gruhalakshmi scheme has brought about significant change in the lives of many women, helping them build a better future. For instance, in May, Sakkubai Eranna Karadinna from Manihal village in Ramdurg underwent cataract surgery using the funds from the Gruhalakshmi scheme.
