New Delhi: Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has reportedly asked the CBI to “to take further action in accordance with law” on the five-page report submitted by Intelligence Bureau (IB) red-flagging former Madras HC Chief Justice VK Tahilramani’s alleged irregularities in purchase of two flats in outskirts of Chennai.
The IB report has also red-flagged Tahilramani’s decision to disband the special HC bench deal with idol theft cases involving high profile people and her alleged close links with a Tamil Nadu minister.
Earlier this month, Justice Tahilramani resigned following the CJI-led collegium on August 28 ordered her transfer to Meghalaya HC’s Chief Justice for “for better administration of justice”. On September 2, Tahilramani requested the collegium to reconsider its decision but the collegium turned down her request. Following the developments Tahilramani resigned.
