Taken to Ayodhya-Varanasi instead of Goa for honeymoon, MP woman files for divorce
Bhopal, Jan 25: A woman from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh has filed for divorce after eight months of marriage because her husband took her to Varanasi and Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh along with his parents instead of Goa for honeymoon, an official said on Thursday.
The application for divorce is pending at the counselling stage and efforts are on for an amicable solution between the husband and wife, Family Court marriage counsellor Shail Awasthi told PTI.
"They got married on May 3 last year. The woman insisted on going on a honeymoon abroad as they are earning well. The husband is an IT professional while the woman works in a private company," Awasthi said.
"The husband was reluctant to go abroad for honeymoon and later settled for Goa or somewhere in south India as possible destinations claiming he also had to look after his parents," the official added.
The man booked flight tickets to Ayodhya and Varanasi without informing his wife and told her about the trip just a day before departure, Awasthi said.
"He told his wife his mother wanted to visit Ayodhya before the idol consecration of the Ram Temple. The woman did not object at the time but had an argument over it once the family returned and later filed for divorce. The woman in her statement has claimed the man took greater care of his parents than her," the official said quoting the divorce application.
The couple is being counselled but it may take time for the matter to be resolved, Awasthi added.

Trump says he ‘hasn’t even thought about’ continuing Iran ceasefire
Washington: US President Donald Trump has said he has not yet considered whether he would continue the ceasefire involving Iran, while also claiming the United States holds the advantage in negotiations.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said he was prepared to make a deal with “whoever is running the show” in Iran.
“They are fighting with each other, there’s tremendous infighting. They’re probably fighting for leadership in many cases. I think they’re fighting not to be leader because we knocked out two levels of leaders,” he said.
Trump added, “When they want they can call me. We have all the cards, we’ve won everything.”
Referring to ongoing negotiations, he said, “They gave us a paper that should’ve been better. And, interestingly, immediately when I cancelled it [envoy trip to Pakistan], within 10 minutes we got a new paper that was much better.”
“We talked about they will not have a nuclear weapon, very simple … They offered a lot, but not enough,” he added.
When asked whether he would continue the ceasefire, Trump replied, “I haven’t even thought about it.”
The remarks come as uncertainty remains over the future of the temporary truce and broader negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
