Mumbai: A history-sheeter was murdered in a spa in central Mumbai's Worli on Wednesday. The victim had tattooed 22 names of his potential enemies on his thigh, including the spa's owner, Santosh Sherekar.

He was reportedly killed after Sherekar, who had a financial dispute with him, hired Mohammed Feroze Ansari for Rs 6 lakh to carry out the murder. Sherekar had allegedly given ‘supari,’ or contract, for killing Waghmare as he was fed up with his extortion threats.

DCP Crime Branch Datta Nalawade confirmed that the victim was a history-sheeter with eight cognizable offences and 22 non-cognizable reports (NCR) registered against him.

According to a PTI report, the victim had lodged a complaint against Sherekar's spa and allegedly demanded extortion money to retract the complaints. In response, Sherekar approached Ansari to arrange for his murder.

On July 23, Waghmare was partying in Sion with his girlfriend, who was employed at Sherekar's spa. Later that night, he accompanied her to the spa. Around 2 am, all three workers of the spa stepped out. During this time, two individuals entered the spa and attacked the victim, slitting his throat and stabbing his stomach with a sharp weapon.

The police have arrested Sherekar and Ansari and are questioning two other suspects from Nalasopara and Kota. They are also investigating the victim's girlfriend.

Paris, Sep 7: India's Navdeep Singh's silver medal was upgraded to gold after Iran's Beit Sayah Sadegh was disqualified following a dramatic men's javelin throw F41 final at the Paris Paralympics on Saturday.

This is India's first-ever gold medal in the men's javelin F41 category.

Starting the competition with a foul, the 23-year-old para-athlete from Haryana, who had finished fourth at the Tokyo Games three years ago, came up with a throw of 46.39 metres in his second attempt, propelling him to the second place. But it was his third throw that electrified the stadium.

With a monstrous throw of 47.32 metres, Navdeep shattered the Paralympic record and surged into lead, only for Sadegh to better the Indian's mark and clinch the gold with a record-breaking effort of 47.64 metres in his fifth attempt.

However, the Iranian was disqualified some time after the end of the final, leading to the Indian athlete taking the top spot.

The F41 category is for athletes, who are of short stature.
