Tejasvi Surya triumphs in Ironman challenge; PM Modi congratulates
New Delhi: BJP MP Tejasvi Surya successfully completed the Ironman 70.3 challenge on Sunday. Held in Goa, this triathlon required participants to cover a total of 113 kilometers (70.3 miles), including a 1.9-kilometer swim, 90 kilometers of cycling, and a 21.1-kilometer run. By accomplishing this, Surya became the first Member of Parliament to complete the challenge.
The Bengaluru South MP credited his achievement to the inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ‘Fit India’ initiative. Prime Minister Modi himself lauded Surya’s feat on X, calling it a "a commenadable feat" and expressing that it would inspire youngsters to take up fitness-related activities.
Surya, who trained intensively over the past four months, highlighted the importance of fitness for a young nation. He remarked, "Our nation is ambitious. We must cultivate physical strength and aim to become a healthy country. Fitness brings discipline, self-confidence, and success in any endeavour."

Kochi: The Kerala government has officially withdrawn Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) charges against Dominic Martin, the main accused in the Kalamassery blast at Samra Convention Centre last year. The explosion took place on October 29 during a Jehovah’s Witness prayer service, resulting in six fatalities and injuring 23 others. The injured were taken to Kalamassery Medical College and other hospitals for treatment.
The decision to remove UAPA charges followed recommendations from the state’s UAPA review committee and aligns with the Kerala government’s stance on similar cases, such as the Pantheerankavu Maoist case. Martin had previously posted a video on social media taking responsibility for the attack and later surrendered to the police. Eyewitnesses reported hearing three explosions within minutes.
Jehovah's Witnesses, known for their belief in the imminent return of Christ, were gathered for a regional convention at the venue when the incident occurred.
