Wayanad: A tigress, which was declared a man-eater and facing a shoot-at-sight order, was found dead in the forest areas of Wayanad in Kerala during the early hours of Monday.

Kerala Forest Department officials said that the animal found dead was the one that killed Radha, a 40-year-old plantation worker at Pancharakolli in the Wayanad district last week.

Officials stated that the suspected man-eater was spotted around 2:30 a.m. on Monday. Reports indicate that an attempt to tranquilize the animal was unsuccessful, and it was later found dead. There were no attempts to shoot it.

Dr Arun Zachariah, chief forest veterinary surgeon and a member of the search team, mentioned that the tigress’s body showed both old and fresh wounds. Some of the injuries appeared to have been inflicted during encounters with other animals in the forest.

An autopsy will be conducted shortly to find the cause of death of the animal.
