New Delhi: Twitter users on Saturday had a field day against ‘Halal’ meat and services and called for boycotting the ‘Halal’ products. The outrage against the product broke out when a twitter user tagged Jharkhand Police and brought to their notice fruit shops which had apparently certification from Vishwa Hindu Parishad for being a “Hindu fruit shop in Jharkhand.
The user also posted pictures of the shop and also tagged the official handle of Jharkhand CMO and others. The user added that instead of Jharkhand Government or state authorities, organizations like VHP are giving permissions to businesses.
The tweet further added that it was pity and shameful that the state was moving towards such hatred between communities.
“It's a matter of great shame to our state that we are going up in such Hindu Muslim hatred. Now instead of Jharkhand Govt. or state authorities these people will give permission to businesses” the tweet added.
The Jharkhand Police taking note of the tweet first urged its officials to take action and then later posted another tweet adding that it had initiated action against the fruit shops and the banners were removed.
Irked by these, several twitter users mostly right-wingers jumped guns to the matter and called on Halal certification of products and soon the topic went trending on the micro-blogging site in India.
The trend soon became anti-Muslim and users discredit the move of Jharkhand Police of removing the banners adding that several entities in Jamshedpur had “Halal” tags on their banners.
Several influencers and right-wing activists also called for boycotting of Halal products and called the move by police as Hinduphobhia. Anurag Dixit who is followed on twitter by Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah also endorsed the boycotting of Halal products.

First remove all the kafir hating verses from your books, and remove halal certifications from everywhere before starting to yap about Hindu Muslim hatred. this post is the finest example of your hatred. Hindus have equal right to buy from whoever they wish to buy from. https://t.co/RTt7k7azsx

OPPRESSION. Oppression of Hindus is now the default setting of Indian system. Which legal mandate does Halal certification follow? Halal is meant to be produced by Muslims for consumption of Muslims. Certification is done by Jamat Halal trust. But one cant write Hindu shop! https://t.co/2yo6dokOSy

Shop with "Hindu" name, was told to take off the banner. Nothing about countless products been sold as Halal-certified. Raise this issue of hypocrisy, and get slammed for spreading lsIamophobia!! pic.twitter.com/Vam6qKQUJ3

Hello @NavroopSingh_ can you please guide us, on what ground Police could remove VHP affiliation poster from a fruit vendor? How is this different from Halal posters? If Hindu/Indic marking of shops are anti constitutional, so is Halal, isn't it? Can selective ban stand in court?

Guwahati (PTI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said 20 foreign nationals were apprehended in the state and pushed back to Bangladesh.
"Rude people don't understand soft language... We continuously remind ourselves of this prophetic line when we expel infiltrators from Assam who don't leave themselves. For instance, these 20 illegal Bangladeshis who were PUSHED BACK last night," Sarma said in a post on X.
He, however, did not share details pertaining to the location where they were nabbed or their nationality.
"Assam will fight, Pushbacks WILL CONTINUE," Sarma asserted.
Sribhumi, Cachar, Dhubri and South Salmara-Mankachar districts in Assam share 267.5 km of the international border with Bangladesh.
There is an Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Sutarkandi in Sribhumi. The northeast has a total of three ICPs along the India-Bangladesh border, the other two being at Dawki in Meghalaya and Akhaura in Tripura.
Another ICP in the region is at Darranga in Assam along the India-Bhutan border.
The Assam Police had earlier said that the force and the BSF would do everything possible to prevent any attempt by non-Indians to enter the country from Bangladesh, as per law, following a political turmoil in the neighbouring nation in 2024.
However, all Indian passport holders have been allowed to return from trouble-hit Bangladesh through the entry point in the state.
