NEW DELHI: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) cautioned the public against going for plastic or laminated Aadhaar smart cards saying their unauthorised printing could render the QR code dysfunctional or even expose personal data without an individual’s informed consent.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) asserted that the Aadhaar letter, its cutaway portion, downloaded versions of Aadhaar on ordinary paper or mAadhaar are “perfectly valid”. Moreover, unauthorised printing of Aadhaar smart cards could cost between Rs 50-300, or even more, a payment that is completely unnecessary, it said.
“…the plastic or PVC Aadhaar smart cards are often not usable as the QR code (Quick Response Code) commonly becomes dysfunctional during such unauthorised printing at some vendor/shop,” UIDAI said in a statement.

Amaravati (PTI): Andhra Pradesh Police on Wednesday detained Srihari Pudi, general secretary, media wing of YSRCP, over a social media post against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, said an official.
Pudi is being shifted to Kuppam in Chittoor district, where the case was registered against him, said the official.
"We are bringing him in one social media case. He is with us," the official told PTI, adding that Pudi will be produced in a local court on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, YSRCP alleged that the police have 'unlawfully' detained Pudi while he was on his way from the residence of former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Reddy's residence is located at Tadepalli village in Guntur district.
"During the detention, police seized his laptop and mobile phone. Authorities have not disclosed where he is being taken, raising serious concerns over transparency and civil liberties," said a YSRCP press release, decrying Pudi's 'illegal arrest'.
Pudi worked as the chief public relations officer (CPRO) for Reddy when he was the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.
