Lucknow: Bharatiya Janata Party’s double engine dominance in Uttar Pradesh faced a tough contest from the INDIA alliance in the state.
Recent trends indicate the SP-Congress alliance leading in 40 seats, while the BJP trails with 33 seats. This marks a significant departure from the BJP's previous dominance, having secured 62 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.
Uttar Pradesh is a pivotal state, sending the highest number of MP’s to the Lok Sabha and is often known as the road to Delhi.
Key constituencies like Faizabad reflect the BJP's struggle, where the Samajwadi Party's Awadhesh Prasad leads with 208,379 votes, while BJP's Lallu Singh trails with 203,751 votes.
In Amethi, Union Minister Smriti Irani faces a setback, trailing by 62,358 votes to Congress candidate Kishori Lal. Earlier, there were tense moments with PM Narendra Modi trailing, but currently, he leads with 401,150 votes against Congress' Ajay Rai's 295,690 votes.
The 'UP ke ladke' narrative, symbolizing Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi, gains traction as the two leaders collaborate. Despite their previous setback in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh polls, the INDIA alliance, with their more seasoned approach, now leads on 42 seats, challenging the NDA's hold with five additional seats."
