Jagdalpur (PTI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said the fight against Left-wing extremism (LWE) seems to be in the final stage of victory in the country and the supreme sacrifices made by the CRPF personnel battling the menace has a huge contribution in it.

Speaking at the 84th Raising Day event of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), he also appealed to the force to continue its valiant fight against the LWE till the menace is not wiped out completely.

Highlighting the role of CRPF in the fight against Naxalism, he said the credit to wipe out hindrances in the path of development in Maoist-hit areas goes to the CRPF personnel.

"CRPF strongly fought against Left-wing extremism and achieved success on all fronts. The force has also displayed an example of organisational skill by establishing coordination with the local police," Shah said.

Incidents of LWE violence declined by 76 per cent in the country as compared to 2010 and at the same time loss of lives (of civilians and security personnel) also went down by 78 per cent, he added.

Noting the role of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), he said the two agencies have been acting strongly to stop funding to LWE.

Shah said, the CRPF's annual celebration is being held for the first time in a LWE-affected area and that too in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh.

The event was held at Karanpur camp of the 201st battalion of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action(CoBRA), an elite unit of the CRPF, which is located around 20 km away from Jagdalpur, the headquarter of Bastar district.

Bastar division which has been struggling with the LWE for the last over three decades, comprises seven districts - Bastar, Kanker, Kondagaon, Sukma, Dantewada, Narayapur and Bijapur.

The CRPF is extensively deployed in the south Bastar region that comprises Sukma, Dantewada and Bijapur districts, which have witnessed several major Maoist attacks and counter-offensive operations by security forces led by the CRPF.

Hathras: A Class 2 student was allegedly killed as part of a black magic ritual inside his school hostel in Hathras. The police have arrested five people, including the director and three teachers of D L Public School, Rasgawan, for their alleged involvement in the crime.

The deceased boy, whose body was found in the school director's car, is believed to have been ‘sacrificed’ for the school's purported success and glory, according to the police. The suspects in custody are school director Dinesh Baghel, his father Jashodhan Singh, and teachers Laxman Singh, Veerpal Singh, and Ramprakash Solanki.

Hathras Superintendent of Police Nipun Agarwal stated, "The child was killed as part of a ritual for the institution's success. We are investigating whether any additional individuals were involved in the incident."

Police reports suggest that the director's father, Jashodhan, practiced black magic and rituals. In the past, he had allegedly attempted to kill another child in a similar manner but failed.

The deceased was the son of Krishan Kushwaha, a software engineer based in Delhi. The school hostel, which houses around 600 students from Classes 1 to 5, became the scene of the tragic crime earlier this week.

On Monday morning, the boy was found unresponsive in his hostel bed by staff and other students. Instead of reporting the matter, Baghel reportedly attempted to cover up the crime by placing the child’s body in his car and driving to Agra and Aligarh for several hours. The boy's family, upon being informed that their child was “unwell,” reached the school but could not locate him.

Suspecting foul play, Kushwaha informed the local police, which led to a manhunt for Baghel. The boy’s body, bearing strangulation marks, was eventually found in Baghel’s vehicle after the family raised an alarm. An autopsy confirmed that the child had been strangled on Sunday night.

A case of murder under relevant sections has been registered against the accused, and further investigation is underway.
