Vijayapura: The district of Vijayapura continued to experience an earthquake. Reportedly, Tikota Taluk experienced tremors accompanied by a loud noise on Wednesday morning. Several days ago, the district had experienced loud noise and earthquake, resulting in increasing fear among the public.
On Wednesday around 10.30 am, several places in Tikota experienced an earthquake accompanied by loud noise. The people have reportedly run out of their homes as soon as they felt the tremors.
On Monday, around 6.34 pm, Kallakvatagi, Ghonasagi, Babanagar, Bijjaragi, Hubanur, Siddapura K. Takkalakki, Somadevarahatti, Malakanadevarahatti villages in the Taluk experienced the earthquake.
Similar such instances have occurred several times in the month of October, the people informed.
During these instances, loud noises were accompanied by earthquakes lasting 5 to 10 seconds which was also been recorded in the Richter scale that indicated the focal point of the earthquake to be at Bijjaragi Village. At the time, no officer or geologist visited the affected villages, it is learned
Presently, the earthquake has occurred once again. Due to repeated instances of earth tremors, the public in the area has expressed their rising fears. Previously, 2-4 years ago, the area had experienced similar earthquakes accompanied by a loud sound, it is learned. At the time the officials and Geologists had visited the villages and ensured that it was not an earthquake and insisted that it was a natural phenomenon occurring beneath the earth.
However, several days ago in October, an earthquake was recorded in the area. Now, this is the second time that the tremors have occurred. The Vijaypur District Administration has not clarified the recording of the earthquake on the Richter scale.

Dubai (PTI): An Indian crew member was killed in an "unfortunate" maritime incident, the Indian mission said on Friday, extending assistance.
The Indian Consulate in Dubai did not give much information about the incident but said it was "saddened to learn of the unfortunate incident at Sea that caused the tragic death of an Indian crew of a ship".
In a post on X, the Consulate said it was in touch with the ship's owner and is ascertaining further details.
"The Consulate will render all possible assistance in this matter on priority. Our deepest condolences," it said.
