New Delhi, June 13: The Welfare Party of India has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic crash of an Air India flight in Ahmedabad, terming the incident “extremely distressing” and extending heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.
In an official statement issued on Tuesday, the party's National General Secretary (Organisation), Dr. S.Q.R. Ilyas, said the crash—which occurred shortly after the London-bound Air India Boeing 787 took off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport—has left the nation in mourning. The aircraft was carrying 242 people, including crew, and is believed to have resulted in the death of almost all on board.
“We understand the grief of the families of the deceased and stand fully with them in this hour of sorrow,” said Dr. Ilyas, offering the party’s condolences to the bereaved families.
The party also called on the Gujarat government and Air India authorities to provide full support and necessary medical and logistical assistance to those injured in the incident.
Further, the Welfare Party has demanded a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the crash. “A probe must be carried out from every angle to identify any technical failures, human errors, or administrative lapses,” Dr. Ilyas said. He emphasised that if any negligence is found on the part of the Air India management or the Airport Authority of India, strict accountability must follow.

Dhanbad (Jharkhand) (PTI): At least four workers died after being buried under coal slurry in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district on Saturday, a police official said.
The incident took place at Moonidih coal washery in the command area of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL).
"Bodies of all four workers were dug out of debris during a rescue operation," Putki police station in-charge Waqar Hussain told PTI.
The incident took place when coal slurry was being loaded into trucks by workers, during which a large chunk of slurry fell and trapped several workers underneath, officials said.
The deceased have been identified as Manik Bauri, Dinesh Bauri, Deepak Bauri, and Hemlal Gope.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased and local villagers placed the bodies in front of the washery gate and began a protest.
They demanded compensation, jobs for dependents and action against those responsible for the incident.
Police and administration officials are trying to pacify the protesters, an official said.
