Hubballi: Former Congress President and senior leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday took a sly dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and asked him why RSS did not hoist the tricolor at its headquarters for 52 years.

Rahul Gandhi who was on a Karnataka visit to attend former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah’s 75th birthday bash visited the Karnataka Khadi and Village Industries in Hubballi and met the workers who weave tricolor.

Later, in a Facebook post slammed the RSS for continuously insulting the tricolor. He further added that the people who came out of the organization are running a campaign of “Har Ghar Tiranga”.

“Millions of countrymen sacrificed their lives to keep the tricolor high, but one organization always refused to adopt the tricolor, did not hoist the tricolor at its headquarters in Nagpur for 52 years, and continuously insulted the tricolor.” He wrote in the post.

“Today, the people who came out of the same organization are telling the history of the tricolor, and are running the 'Har Ghar Tricolor' campaign.” He added.

He further raised three questions in the post and continued “I'm asking the same question again to those who promote their propaganda, Why didn't RSS hoist the tricolor at its headquarters for 52 years? Why is the livelihood of those who make the national flag from Khadi being destroyed? Machine made from China, why import of polyester flags were allowed?”

As a part of the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” campaign to celebrate India’s 75th Independence Day, PM Modi had asked citizens of the country to change their display pictures on social media to tricolor from August 2 – 15 and had also urged them to hoist a tricolor at home naming it “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign.
