New Delhi: Minutes after media outlets reported that Journalist Mohammed Zubair was denied bail and was sent to 14-day judicial custody, his lawyer added the reports were fake and the police leaked them to the media.

Advocate Soutik Banerjee, representing Zubair denied the news adding that it was “extremely scandalous and speaks volume of rule of law in the country.”

‘Even before the judge has sat, police has leaked fake reports to the media.” He added.

He said the magistrate was yet to pronounce judgement on Zubair’s bail plea.
