In a disturbing incident in Jaisalmer, a Dalit journalist, Heera Lal Meghwal, was reportedly assaulted for his coverage of the sexual assault of a minor boy. The assailants, allegedly acting on behalf of the accused who hails from an OBC community, targeted Meghwal due to his consistent reporting on the issue.
