Mamata saddened over deaths in rural-poll violence, gives police free hand to act against culprits

 West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said she is saddened at the loss of lives in "sporadic" incidents of violence during rural polls. Banerjee also asserted that her government has given a free hand to the police to take action against those behind the violence.


Centre to sell tomatoes at discounted rates in Delhi, other cities

 In a first, the Centre will start selling tomatoes at discounted rates in retail markets in the national capital and few other cities from Friday to provide relief to the consumers as the price of the kitchen staple is ruling high at over Rs 200 per kilogram in some parts of the country.

As deadline nears, Law Commission gets 46 lakh responses on Uniform Civil Code

As the deadline to send views on the Uniform Civil Code ends in two days, the Law Commission has so far received nearly 46 lakh responses, sources said on Tuesday.
