Government to soon recapitalise some PSBs with Rs 10,000 cr

The government is likely to recapitalise some state-run banks in urgent need by up to Rs 10,000 crore within a few days to help them meet regulatory capital requirements, official sources said on Tuesday.

According to the Finance Ministry sources here, these banks, which include the Punjab National Bank (PNB), Corporation Bank and the Central Bank of India, are under pressure to make interest payment to bond holders of their Additional Tier 1 bonds.

Chandan Mitra set to leave BJP

An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped at a Chennai apartment building by several men over months. The police have arrested 17 people, including the building's security guard.

Soldier commits suicide on LoC

A soldier committed suicide while on duty on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Tuesday. Ranbir Singh was on duty at an army garrison in Khour area of Akhnoor sector. He shot himself with his service rifle on Monday evening.
