Mangaluru: As many as 1001 places have been notified regarding the use of loudspeakers here in the city, said Police Commissioner Shashi Kumar on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters here, he said, “it has been noted that a total of 1001 places including 357 temples, 168 mosques, 95 churches, 106 educational institutions, 60 industrial areas and 98 entertainment areas are making use of loudspeakers. Since yesterday, we have set about giving notice, asking them to abide by the rules and regulations regarding the decibel limit for the use of loudspeakers.”

The Police Commissioner warned that as per government and court orders, a notice of further legal action will be issued if violated.

He also informed the media about the measures taken here in Mangaluru over the loudspeaker use as per High Court guidelines.

“It is a misconception that only mosques are being targeted by the police,” he clarified.

New Delhi, Jun 26: A court here on Wednesday sent Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to CBI custody for three days after the probe agency arrested him in a corruption case linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam.

Special Judge Amitabh Rawat passed the order on an application moved by the CBI. The probe agency formally arrested Kejriwal on Wednesday after getting permission from the court.

The Aam Aadmi Party national convener is lodged in prison in an excise policy-linked money laundering case being probed by the Enforcement Department (ED).

"CBI application is allowed for three days," the judge said.

In the application seeking Kejriwal's custody, the CBI told the court that he was required to be quizzed to unearth the larger conspiracy in the matter. It also said that the Delhi chief minister was required to be confronted with evidence and other people accused in the case.

Federal agencies had earlier claimed that a so-called "south lobby" dictated the formulation of the now-scrapped excise policy and that the chief minister was involved in all this.
