Kota (Udupi): A 17-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide on Sunday afternoon after jumping into an agricultural pit in Kota, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Vanshika. According to preliminary information, she had left her house on Sunday morning on a scooter without informing her family. During the ride, the scooter reportedly slipped and fell on the road, sustaining damage.
Police said Vanshika returned home after the incident, parked the scooter back in its original place, and did not inform anyone about the accident. She later left the house again and is believed to have jumped into a nearby agricultural pit, where she drowned.
Police suspect that the teenager may have taken the extreme step out of fear or distress over damaging the scooter, though the exact reasons are yet to be established.
The body was recovered and sent for post-mortem examination. Kota Police have registered a case and are continuing the investigation.
(Assistance for overcoming suicidal thoughts is available on the state’s health helpline 104, Tele-MANAS 14416.)

Islamabad (AP): President Donald Trump says he told top US envoys not to travel to Pakistan to negotiate with Iran, telling Fox News that "they can call us anytime they want.”
In a brief phone interview Saturday, Trump told Fox News that he told US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner “you're not going to be making any more 18 hour flights to sit around talking about nothing.”
Trump also said of the US side “we have all the cards.”
His comments came after the White House said Friday that Witkoff and Kushner would be heading to Pakistan for another round of negotiations with Iran.
