Bantwala, July 27: A two-year-old child fell into an open toilet pit and died at Tumbe in the taluk on Friday. The child is identified as Ayesha, daughter of Ahmed Bava of Tumbe Valavoor.
While playing in the walker, the child slipped into the open toilet pit. The family members cleaned the toilet pit and were supposed to close it. But before closing the pit, the child fell into it along with the walker. When the family members did not hear the sound for more than half an hour, they searched the child and found it inside the pit. Though the child was lifted and admitted to the hospital, it did not respond to the treatment. Bantwala rural police registered a case.

Thane (PTI): Authorities have seized illegally stored 1,839 gas cylinders and seven vehicles worth over Rs 67 lakh in the Dombivli MIDC area of Thane district, officials said on Saturday.
A special vigilance team of the Mumbai Rationing Department detected an illegal storage of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders in Phase-2 of Dombivli (East).
Cylinders belonging to multiple gas agencies were found stockpiled in closed vehicles, unauthorised warehouses, and open sheds without mandatory permissions from the Explosives Department, Fire Department, or oil companies, according to an official release.
