Bantwal: In a tragic incident a youngster committed suicide by coming under train on Monday morning here at Golthamajalu Madaka near Kalladka of Bantwal Taluk.

The deceased has been identified as Purandara (28), son of Venkappa Gowda, a resident of Golthamajalu. Purandara was working at a service station and Maruti showroom.

According to the sources, Purandra was seen at the local Jatra (Temple's annual festival) till 10:30 pm on Sunday night where he was said to be hosting the event.

Purandara was said to be an addict of alcohol and was also recently admitted to a Mangaluru hospital for rehabilitation. However, the reason behind taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.

Bantwal Police Sub-Inspector Chandrashekhar visited the spot and conducted initial investigations.

In response to the backlash, Suvarna News expressed regret for the oversight and stated that it was a result of oversight.

Following suit, mainstream visual media has initiated various talk shows centered around the report's findings. Suvarna News Kannada news channel aired a similar discussion, inadvertently sparking the controversy over flag representation.
