Adyar Padavu: Protest held seeking closure of stone quarry
Mangaluru: After repeated death incidents at a stone quarry, the irate public of Adyar Padavi staged a protest seeking the closure of stone quarry.
“So far two persons have drowned in this quarry. And now, the 13-year-old son of Hasanabba Mohammed Tameem has lost his life in the quarry. The quarry may pose more threats in future if it is not closed now. Therefore immediately it must be closed,” the protesters urged.
Mangaluru Tahsildar arrived at the spot, following the protesters' demand, and assured them of taking measures to close the quarry.
Local leaders Nawaz Sakhafi and Ashok Suvarna expressed anger over the chaos of the stone quarry. Grama panchayat President Pratima, members Krishna Poojari, Sundar, Yakub, and others participated in the protest.

US Consulate in Dubai reportedly attacked
Dubai: Smoke was seen rising from an area near the United States Consulate in Dubai, according to witness accounts cited by Reuters.
There was no immediate official confirmation on the extent of damage or whether there were any casualties in the incident.
Earlier, the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, was also attacked. Authorities reported damage to the premises, but no casualties were recorded.
The developments come amid heightened tensions in the region, with Iran continuing to target US interests in the Middle East following deadly attacks launched on Saturday by Israel and the United States.
