Belthangady: It would be best if we keep the age-old traditions alive at Sabarimala temple, opined Dr. D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari, Dharmasthala.

He was addressing media persons at Sri Kshetra.

"It is a tradition that devotees express the nature of self-restraint and self-control at Sabarimala. It is better to go there after performing 48-day rituals and go there. It is the significance of that land. But now people are visiting Sabarimala after performing four-day, two-day rituals. This is not a good thing," Dr. Heggade stated.

What will happen if women enter Sabarimala temple, this is not the question. The traditions that the elders have followed have a background. It is best to practice them, Dr. Heggade added.
