Mangaluru: While many celebrated Independence Day in unique ways, AIPIF (The Message of Humanity Forum-Mangaluru), Blood Donors Mangaluru, and Jamiyathul Falah Mangaluru Taluk Unit marked the occasion by organizing a blood donation camp at Jamiyathul Falah Hall, Kankanady, Mangaluru. The event aimed to raise awareness about the spirit of sacrifice by encouraging blood donation.

The inauguration ceremony took place at Iqra Arabic School, Mangaluru, where the opening was symbolically marked by watering plants, conveying the message of being like beneficial trees, offering service to all, irrespective of religion, region, caste, creed, or any other differences.

Distinguished political and social figures such as Padmaraj R of the Congress, Haji Ibrahim Kodijal and Haji Haneej of the Muslim Central Committee, A Nasir Luckystar, President of the DK Waqf, A Majeed Sitara, and the Principal of Iqra Arabic School were present. They praised the initiative and emphasized its importance.

A joint program organized by Message of Humanity Forum, Mangaluru, Jamiatul Falah Mangaluru Taluk Unit, and Blood Donors Mangaluru, was a resounding success. The organizers, including:

Palakkad (Kerala) (PTI): Five people have been arrested for allegedly beating to death a Jharkhand native on suspicion of theft near Walayar here a day ago, police said on Friday.

The arrests were formally recorded late Thursday night and all the accused have been booked for the offence of murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, an officer of Walayar police station said.

The deceased -- Ramnarayan Bhayar (31) -- was working as a labourer in the Walayar area.

According to police, Bhayar was attacked by a group of men on Wednesday evening, alleging that he was involved in a theft at Kizhakeattappallam near Walayar.

As per the FIR, the incident occurred before 7.40 pm, and the injured Bhayar was rushed to the Palakkad District Government Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police said a detailed investigation was underway to ascertain the sequence of events leading to the incident.
