Mangaluru, August 10: Due to heavy downpour in the city on Friday afternoon, a temporary flood situation was created at Kottara Chowki.

MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, senior officers rushed to the spot and directed the authorities to take action to provide permanent solutions for water clogging.

Later, the MLA told media persons that the area where rainwater is clogged is belonging to national highway authority and Mangaluru City Corporation. As there was no place to pass the rainwater in one side of the road, the rainwater clogged in the area making it a flood situation. The drainage might be blocked and he has directed the officials to repair it immediately, he said.  

Ward committee president Umesh Shetty and BJP workers helped the police personnel for smooth traffic movement.

Jammu (PTI): Police on Tuesday recovered an aeroplane-shaped balloon marked 'PIA' in Rajouri district, officials said.

A red and white aeroplane-shaped balloon bearing the text 'PIA' with Urdu was found in Sarhoti village under the Dharamsal Police Station, they said.

Locals alerted authorities after spotting the object.

Cops from Police Post Teryath reached the site, secured the balloon, and seized it, they added.

Earlier, on February 23, two balloons with a Pakistani Rs 5,000 currency note and a US dollar attached were recovered from Gunara village in the Akhnoor sector near Jammu.
