Vitla: The 35-year-old driver of an auto rickshaw died on the spot after the vehicle toppled as the driver lost control while turning on the road at Manila near Vitla late Monday night.

The deceased driver, Sudarshan, was a resident of Subrahmanya Panja.

He had been traveling with a passenger in the auto rickshaw on Monday night and had reached Manila Bavalimoole, where he lost control over the rickshaw, which toppled on the road. Sudarshan was grievously injured and died on the spot.

The passenger is learned to have sustained minor injuries in the accident.

A case has been filed at the Vitla Police Station and investigation is on.
