Mangaluru: Mass namaz in mosques has already been restricted in accordance with the lockdown imposed as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of coronavirus. As this lockdown has been extended till May 3, it will also apply to the mass Taraweeh of Ramazan. Therefore, everyone should avoid mass Taraweeh Namaz, ”said Khazi Alhaj Bekal Ibrahim Musliyar, Udupi Khazi.

Ramazan fasting will begin from April 24 or 25. Taraweeh Namaz is given special emphasis during Ramadan in general. It is collectively offered in the mosques. But this time, in the wake of the coronavirus, all mass programs, including Namaz, have been restricted. In the meantime, an information has been received about some people thinking to offer collective Taraweeh Namaz at flats on major junctions in Mangaluru city and other places on Karnataka coastline. Social distancing has to be maintained, therefore, gathering more than 4 people at a place is not safe. Therefore, people should offer namaz at their homes and maintain social distancing, the Qazi suggested.
