Udupi, July 10: Udupi police took underworld fugitive don Bannanje Raja who was brought to his native place Sasithota in Kalmadi to see his sick mother, on Tuesday with tight police security.
Following the permission from the principal district and sessions court, the police brought Raja to his native place on July 09 and allowed him to stay with his mother for 12 hours on Monday. Later, he was brought to Udupi city police station where he was kept in the lock up during night. For security reasons, the district surgeon visited the police station and conducted medical check up on Raja.
On Tuesday at 8 am, he was taken to Belagavi jail by road with police security. Police sources said that they have reached Belagavi at 4 pm.

Mangaluru: Mustafa Bengre has been unanimously elected as the District President of the Students Islamic Organisation of India, Dakshina Kannada Unit (SIO DK), for the 2026 term. The election was conducted through an internal organisational process, led by SIO Karnataka State Secretary Sufyan Zain.
Mustafa Bengre holds a BBA degree from Mangalore University and is a resident of Kasba Bengre in Mangaluru. He is currently working as a sales executive at Vibro Aqua.
He has previously served as the District Secretary of SIO Dakshina Kannada, City Secretary of SIO Mangaluru and has been actively involved in several social service initiatives in Bengre and across the Dakshina Kannada district.
