Bantwal: A tragic incident unfolded in Badagundi village under the jurisdiction of the Bantwal Rural Police Station on Thursday morning, where the bodies of a husband and his pregnant wife were discovered inside their home.

The deceased have been identified as Timmappa Moolya (50) and his wife Jayanti (40). According to police sources, Timmappa was found hanging, suggesting suicide, while Jayanti was found dead under suspicious circumstances.

Reports indicate that Jayanti’s body was found lying on the bed, while Timmappa had allegedly died by suicide using a rope. The couple had been married for 15 years and had no children until recently. Jayanti was reportedly pregnant, and her baby shower ceremony (Seemantha) was scheduled for July 2.

Timmappa was residing in Mittamajalu, while Jayanti stayed at her maternal home in Badagundi. The exact cause of the deaths remains unclear.

Bantwal Rural Police Inspector Shivakumar visited the scene, and a case has been registered. Investigations are ongoing to determine the sequence of events and the motive behind the deaths.

Thane (PTI): A 45-year-old man was killed, and his wife and son were injured when a portion of plaster from the ceiling collapsed in their flat in a seven-storey building in Thane on Saturday, officials said.

Chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell, Yasin Tadvi, said the 16-year-old building is not listed in the "dangerous" category.

"The incident occurred in Karumdev Society at about 3 am. The plaster of the hall in a flat on the terrace floor suddenly fell while the occupants were asleep", he said.

Of the four people who were inside the room, two suffered minor injuries and were discharged after primary treatment, Tadvi stated.

The injured persons were identified as Arpita More (42), who suffered minor head injuries, and her son Arush More (16), who sustained injuries to both legs.

Manoj More (45), who sustained chest injuries, died during treatment at a private hospital.
