Bantwal: The body of an unidentified woman was discovered floating in the Nethravathi River on Thursday, near the 4th gate of the AMR Power Dam in Shambur village.

The deceased, believed to be around 40 years old, was found in a decomposed state.

Nagaraja Shetty, a local, discovered the woman’s body who subsequently filed a complaint with the Bantwal Rural Police. According to the police, the woman may have fallen into the water approximately 15 days ago.

The Bantwal Rural Police visited the scene and have registered a case in connection with the incident.

Mangaluru: Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal has informed that a case has been registered against Sangh Parivar members Sharan Pumpwell and Puneet Attavar at the Sen Crime Police Station.

The charges relate to making provocative statements regarding the Eid Milad procession.

Commissioner Agrawal further said that strict action will be taken against individuals who make communal statements and added that social media activities are also under surveillance.

In a related development, Puneet Attavar, associated with Bajrang Dal, has been detained by the police in Mandya.
