Bantwal: Gram Panchayath member, wife assaulted with swords at wee hours on Friday
Bantwal: A Congressman and a member of Gram Panchayath was on Friday in the wee hours assaulted by a group of men at his residence with swords. The incident was reported from Meramajalu village under Bantwal Rural Police Station limits.
A resident of Meramajalu and member of local Gram Panchayath Yogish Prabhu and his wife Shobha have sustained injuries during the attack. The attack was carried by a group of three unidentified men on Friday at around 4:00 am.
Both Yogish and his wife Shobha have sustained severe injuries and have been shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for treatment.
Bantwal ASP Saidulu Adavat, Bantwal CPI T D Nagaraj. Bantwal Rural PSI Prasanna and other police personnel reached the spot and are investigating the case.

Yogish Goudar murder case: Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni, 16 others sentenced to life imprisonment

Bengaluru: A special court for people’s representatives has sentenced Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni and 16 others to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of BJP leader Yogish Goudar.
The verdict was delivered by judge Santhosh Gajanana Bhat. The court had earlier, on Wednesday, held all 17 accused guilty of murdering Goudar, while reserving the quantum of punishment.
On Friday, the court pronounced the sentence, awarding life imprisonment to all the convicted persons in the case.
Yogish Goudar, a BJP member from the Hebballi Zilla Panchayat constituency in Dharwad district, was murdered in 2016.
