Bantwal: A young man sustained serious injuries after being stabbed by a group of four men near the Akkarangadi bus stand in Panemangalore late on Friday night.

The victim has been identified as Hamid, also known as Ammi, a local resident and a professional painter. According to sources, the assailants attacked him suddenly and fled the spot immediately after the incident.

Hamid suffered severe injuries to his hand and was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Mangalore by nearby residents who rushed to his aid.

Bantwal police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and have begun an investigation. Efforts are underway to trace the attackers, though the motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Afzalpur: A 24-year-old police constable Dhareppa died as the motorbike he was riding went out of control and toppled on the road while traveling near Gobbur B village on Saturday morning.

Dhareppa, learned to be a resident of Shirawala village, was reportedly traveling back home to the village from Kalaburagi when the accident occurred and the bike fell on the road.

The police constable, who was grievously injured in the accident, is said to have died on the spot.

Aland Deputy Superintendent of Police Thammaraya Patil, Circle Inspector Lakhan Masaguppi and Devalagangapura Sub-inspector Sangeetha Shinde visited the accident spot and inspected it.

A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
