Bengaluru: Noted thinker Dr. Purushottam Bilimale on Sunday said the Bearys took a culture from Coastal India to different places in the world. He was delivering a special lecture on Beary language on the occasion of Beary Language Day celebrations here in the city.

Participating in the annual gathering and felicitation of achievers as part of the program, he said, “It is incorrect to claim that the Beary community are not native residents of this land. Because their language contains original sounds/root words. The words from various languages can be found in the Beary language.”

He further added it is a challenge to nurture and promote the language among people who hate a particular community.

Speaking about the writers of the Beary language, Dr. Bilimale pointed out that the Beary writers have bagged several prominent literary awards in the state over the last six months. He also asserted that in the next 10 years some of the best Kannada writers will come from the Beary community.
