Puttur: Hindutva organizations affiliated with the Sangh Parivar have reportedly decided to undertake a procession with the body of murdered BJP Yuva Morcha leader Praveen Nettaru, who was killed by miscreants at Bellare on Tuesday night.

Accordingly, a procession has started from Puttur city. The organizations have decided to continue the procession on foot until Darbe and from there they will take the dead body via Savanur Kaaniyur, Nintikallu to Bellare, it is learned.

For security purposes, strict police arrangements have been made at Puttur, Kadaba, and Sullia Taluks.

Anger against people’s representatives

Outside the private hospital in Puttur, where Praveen’s body is being kept, Hindutava organizations expressed their anger and dissatisfaction against the visiting people’s representatives.

The crowd which was outside the hospital reportedly became angered at the news that the people’s representatives who had earlier said they were in Bengaluru after Tuesday night’s murder, had not left the state capital until Wednesday morning.

The crowd was outraged that despite receiving information about the murder the leaders had not left Bengaluru earlier, and accused them of doing everything only to obtain votes. The gathered people then insisted that they would not wait for the leaders, as they did not want the leaders showing off using the dead body. Thereafter, the Sangh Parivar activists initiated the procession with the body of the deceased.

Bengaluru: Vidyaranyapura police have arrested four persons, including a man posing as a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI), for allegedly breaking into a house, threatening the occupants, and extorting money while wearing police uniforms.

The arrested accused have been identified as Mallikarjuna, Pramod, Vinay, and Hrithik.

According to the police, Mallikarjuna had failed the PSI examination twice and later falsely projected himself as a PSI. He allegedly conducted photo shoots in his hometown, Siraguppa, wearing a police uniform, baton, cap, and shoes, claiming to be serving as a PSI in Bengaluru.

On December 7, the four accused allegedly went to the house of Naveen in the Vidyaranyapura limits, threatened him with a stick and an iron rod, and claimed they had information that he was selling ganja. Under the pretext of searching, they allegedly extorted ₹87,000 through bank transfer, ₹53,000 in cash kept in the house, and ₹2,000 from his wallet.

Following Naveen’s complaint, Vidyaranyapura police registered a case and launched an operation, leading to the arrest of all four accused. Police have seized ₹45,000 in cash and the car used to commit the crime.
Further investigation is underway.
