Bengaluru: The politics over giving compensation to the families of two people who were killed in police firing in Mangaluru on December 19, is at the moment not stopping. It was triggered by CM Yediyurappa on Wednesday morning after he added the government will not release any compensation if the two are found to be accused and their involvement in the violence and clashes with police are proved.

Karnataka Minister Sriramulu has now come in support of the family of the two killed in the police firing, against his own Chief Minister and has batted for compensation to be released.

Speaking to reporters in Raichur Sriramulu called for judicial probe into the Mangaluru firing incident and added that it will help the truth about the incident to come out.

Shivamogga: A 17-year-old student from Kamakshi Street in the city, Prem Kumar, died of drowning while swimming in River Tunga in Pillangiri village of the taluk recently.

Prem, who was studying in II PUC at DVS College, was visiting the temple in Pillangiri with his friends and got into the river for a swim, when he drowned in the waters of the river.

The youngster’s body has been sent to the mortuary of the McGann Hospital in Shivamogga to conduct a post-mortem examination.

Shivamogga Rural Police visited the spot and held an inspection.
