Udupi: The dead body of a POCSO accused who had escaped from the custody of Kasargod Police and had jumped into the sea last month, was found at the shores of Kadala in Udupi District on Wednesday morning here.
The accused identified as Mahesh (28), had jumped into the sea after escaping from police custody on July 22 near Bunder in Kasargod. He was arrested for shooting a video of a minor girl when she was in the bathroom. After his arrest, a police team had taken him to Bunder where he alleged he had hidden the mobile phone in which he had shot the video.
Soon after reaching the spot, Mahesh managed to escape the police and jumped into the sea. A search operation was soon launched by police and coast guard teams but they were unable to trace him.
The body of Mahesh was found in a decomposed state on Wednesday morning. Taking note of the information shared by Udupi Police, Kasargod Police identified Mahesh by the clothes he was wearing and the handcuffs that were tied to his hands.

Mullanpur (PTI): Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly were in a punishing mood, making 93 and 87 respectively, to drive Punjab Kings to an imposing 254/7 against Lucknow Super Giants in an IPL match here on Sunday.
Arya and Connolly added 182 runs in just 13.2 overs for a massively entertaining second wicket stand for PBKS, as they tallied this IPL season's highest total, going past RCB's 250 for three.
LSG managed to dismiss the duo and Punjah skipper Shreyas Iyer in quick succession but the home team had already built a superb launching pad by then for Marcus Stoinis (29) to cash in.
Brief scores: Punjab Kings: 254/7 in 20 overs (Cooper Connolly 87, Priyansh Arya 93; Prince Yadav 2/25).
