Boluvar : Car knocks down pedestrian
Puttur, June 10: A pedestrian died when a speeding car knocked him down while crossing the road at Boluvar in the town on Saturday night.
The deceased is identified as Prashanth Hegde (48) of Urlandi. When he was crossing the road near Bannur Raitha Seva Sahakari Sangha at Boluvar, the car knocked him down. Severely injured Hegde was admitted to a private hospital, but he was declared brought dead.
Prashanth Hegde was working as the supervisor at Mahammayi temple at Subramanya and he came to his village during holiday. Puttur traffic police registered a case.

US Consulate in Dubai reportedly attacked
Dubai: Smoke was seen rising from an area near the United States Consulate in Dubai, according to witness accounts cited by Reuters.
There was no immediate official confirmation on the extent of damage or whether there were any casualties in the incident.
Earlier, the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, was also attacked. Authorities reported damage to the premises, but no casualties were recorded.
The developments come amid heightened tensions in the region, with Iran continuing to target US interests in the Middle East following deadly attacks launched on Saturday by Israel and the United States.
