Brahmavara: A tragic incident occurred on Saturday night at Hanehalli in Brahmavara taluk, where a young man was shot and killed with a pistol at his home.

The victim, identified as Krishna (36), was employed in Manipal. He was having dinner alone at home when assailants shot him and fled with a pistol.

Police sources revealed that Krishna sustained serious injuries and died on the spot. Neighbours initially mistook the sound of gunfire for firecrackers. The incident came to light in the early morning hours.

Udupi District Superintendent of Police Dr. Arun K visited the scene and conducted an inspection.

A case has been registered at Brahmavara police station, and investigations are ongoing.

A hill collapsed near the tenth turn of Charmadi Ghat, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded for hours. The incident occurred during the night, disrupted vehicular traffic on the Ghat Road.

With the cooperation of locals, the mud and stones were cleared, allowing traffic to resume. However, the disruption caused significant delays, with vehicles backed up at the ghats.
