Car gutted in fire accident on NH 66 near Surathkal
Surathkal: A car traveling along National Highway 66 near the old toll gate of the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in Surathkal was completely destroyed after a fire broke out inside the vehicle on Thursday morning.
The car, reportedly a BMW, was en route from Udupi to Mangaluru when the fire ignited near the NITK campus. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, and all passengers managed to escape unhurt.
Local residents, who noticed the fire, alerted the fire brigade. Firefighters arrived at the scene to extinguish the flames, but the vehicle was already gutted by the time they reached. Officers from Mangaluru Traffic (North Division) and the Surathkal Police were also present at the site after receiving information about the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Army foils infiltration bid in J-K's Uri
Srinagar (PTI): Army on Wednesday foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
