Bhatkal: A car driver had a narrow escape as he lost control while driving on the National Highway 66 near the Bhatkal Town Municipality and his car entered the Municipality gardens on Friday night. The driver, Muhammad Shahid, however, is learned to have sustained minor injuries in the mishap.

The car, traveling in Bhatkal taluk from Hanifabad to Gulmi, was on the downward road near Hotel Quality when the driver lost control, resulting in the car rushing into the gardens under the administration of the Municipality.

The locals who were nearby came to the accident spot and helped the driver exit. As the car had no passengers during the incident, no casualty was reported.

Bhatkal Police visited the site on being informed of the mishap and conducted an inspection and inquiry of the matter.

Bengaluru: Heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Bengaluru, including HSR Layout, Hampinagara, Bagalagunte, Varthur, Doddanekundi, RR Nagar, Rajamahal Guttahalli, V Nagenahalli, Shettihalli, Kadugodi, Hagadur, Singasandra, Koramangala, Vijayanagar, Chamarajpet, and areas surrounding Majestic.

The rain, which began on Friday night, continued into Saturday evening, causing traffic congestion at several signals. Waterlogging was reported on major roads, making it difficult for commuters to navigate.

Low-lying areas and underpasses witnessed severe water stagnation, leading to disruptions. Sarjapur Road, in particular, experienced significant water accumulation, resulting in chaos for the past three to four days.
