Mangaluru : A case has been filed at the Pandeshwar police station here against MLAs of Mangalore South and North Vidhan Sabha constituencies, two corporators, and several others regarding the incident at St Gerosa School in the city.

The case is regarding the unrest created by Sangh Parivar members along with parents of students of St Gerosa School where a teacher has been accused of insulting Hinduism and Lord Ram.

According to reports, on February 12, MLAs Vedavyasa Kamath and Bharat Shetty gathered in front of the school, allegedly attempting to incite students, parents, and the public against the school.

The case names MLAs Vedavyasa Kamath and Bharat Shetty, corporators Sandeep Garodi and Bharat Kumar, Sangh Parivar's Sharan Pumpwell, and others as accused.

The preliminary report states that the accused organised an illegal protest near the school, unlawfully gathered in front of the school chanting slogans like "Jai Shriram," spoke against Christianity, encouraged students to disobey the school management board's rules, and incited a riot between Hindus and Christians.

Srinagar (PTI): Property worth Rs 1 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler was on Saturday attached in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar, police said.

A double-storey house on eight marlas of land situated at Wantpora Eidgah, belonging to Basit Bilal Dar, a notorious drug peddler, valued at approximately Rs 1 crore, a police spokesperson said.

He said Dar is involved in two cases registered under various sections of the NDPS Act.

During investigation, it was established that the accused had acquired the said property through illicit proceeds generated from drug trafficking activities, the spokesperson said.

Consequently, the property was attached under the provisions of the NDPS Act. The attachment proceedings were conducted in the presence of the two independent witnesses, strictly in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures, he said.

As per the attachment order, the owner has been restrained from selling, leasing, transferring, altering, or creating any third-party interest in the property till further orders, the spokesperson added.
