Udupi: JD(S) candidate from Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency Pramod Madhwaraj on Friday arrived in Udupi wearing a shawl displaying symbols of both Congress and JD(S) here.
Pramod during the event said “I was aspiring for Congress ticket, but the coalition decision changed things around and I am contesting from JD(S) ticket with the support of Congress”.
Pramod who arrived in Udupi on Friday after being declared the candidate from both the parties was welcomed by party leaders and workers.
Speaking to reporters at the Congress Bhavan he said “I chose to contest from JD(S) ticket in the interest of Congress party, I am visiting Congress office before even going to home. I will file nomination on March 25. I will tour both the districts in two days”.
Responding to the question pertaining to the shawl he was wearing he said that he was the first politician to wear such a Shawl with symbols of two parties and that no such shawl was ever produced before.
