Udupi: Karnataka Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall for three days starting October 24 in Coastal Karnataka and has also issued red-alert in Udupi District for three days starting October 24.
District Disaster Management Authority has issued warning to fishermen and locals to not venture into water for three days. The authority has also urged the officials of Taluk and District Administration to be alert during the period.
Officials also has asked parents to not allow their children to go out for picnicking and swimming at water bodies during the period.

Udupi Deputy Commissioner, Jagadish added that people from across the District can call 0820-2574802/2574360 in case of emergencies.

Hassan: The driver of a tipper reportedly died in Nettekere village of Belur taluk after suffering an electric shock when the vehicle came in contact with electric wire while emptying the sand transported in it.
The deceased driver, Dileep (33) of Hanumanahalli in Holenarasipura taluk, is said to have failed to notice the wire above the vehicle while tipping the sand in the truck. Immediately as the wire touched the tipper, however, Dileep suffered a shock and is said to have died on the spot.
Belur Police, who were informed of the incident, visited the spot and are learned to have held an inspection.
