Mangaluru: The Congress party has made history in the country by swiftly implementing the "5 Guarantees" promised during their election campaign within a mere two weeks of assuming power. This remarkable achievement has left the BJP completely shattered, according to former Minister and KPCC Vice-president, Ramanath Rai.
Addressing reporters at the DK District Congress Bhavan in the city, Rai emphasized that no other state in the country has managed to fulfill such guarantees or promises. He proudly asserted that the Congress government is one that delivers on its commitments, and this bold move to implement all promises will forever be etched in the annals of history.
Rai pointed out the BJP's hypocrisy, as they initially criticized the Congress guarantees during the election campaign, only to change their tune and stress the need for immediate implementation after the Congress came to power. With the Congress successfully fulfilling the guarantees in its very first cabinet meeting, the BJP has been left silent and unable to respond, he added.

It is noteworthy that BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had claimed that offering free provisions would bankrupt the country. Senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary also faced criticism from the BJP when he proposed loans through the "Sala Mela" (Loan Fair) and objected to the distribution of free rice. Rai highlighted the BJP's inconsistency, pointing out that while they hesitated to waive farmers' loans, they forgave crores of rupees owed by capitalists, an action that will not be forgotten. The BJP had promised to bring back black money stashed abroad within six months and credit Rs 15 lakh to every individual's bank account. However, even after nine years in power at the Centre, the BJP has failed to fulfill these promises. In contrast, the Congress wasted no time in implementing the five guarantees they pledged, even before the ink on the voters' fingers had faded, Rai emphasized.
The press conference was attended by former mayors Shashidhar Hegde and K Sudhakar, Ashraf, Bhaskar Moily, former Deputy Mayor Saleem, Dakshina Kannada District Congress Minority Cell President K.K. Shahul Hameed, T.K. Sudheer, Jayasheela Adyanthaya, CM Mustafa, Appi, Baby Kunder, Chandraprakash Shetty, Prakash Salian, Uday Achar, Suhail Kandak, Prithviraj, Nazir Bajal, Shabbir Siddakatte, and others.

Bengaluru: Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka launched a scathing attack on MLC Dr. Yathindra, demanding that he retract his controversial statement comparing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to the late Maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar. Ashoka urged Yathindra to apologize to the people of Karnataka if he had even a shred of conscience and any respect for the Mysuru royal lineage.
In a strongly worded social media post on Sunday, Ashoka stated, “Comparing Siddaramaiah to Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar is nothing short of absurd. Where is Nalwadi, who was bestowed the title of ‘Rajarshi’ by Mahatma Gandhi himself, and where is Siddaramaiah, who has stooped to being a puppet in the hands of fake Gandhis for the sake of power?”
He continued his critique by contrasting the enduring legacy of Nalwadi, remembered fondly by Kannadigas for his people-centric development, with what he termed as Siddaramaiah’s failure to manage Karnataka’s economy, burdening every household with debt.
Ashoka highlighted several stark differences, while Nalwadi built Mysore University over a century ago, Siddaramaiah is shutting down nine universities due to lack of funds. Nalwadi famously sold his family’s gold to build the KRS dam, whereas Siddaramaiah is accused of grabbing 14 sites meant for the public. Nalwadi established Bhadravati Iron & Steel Plant, Sandalwood Soap Factory, and Mysore Paper Mills. In contrast, Ashoka claimed Siddaramaiah's governance drove away industries, investors, and entrepreneurs. Nalwadi pioneered reservations for the backward classes long before it became mainstream. Siddaramaiah, Ashoka alleged, is reducing social justice to a gimmick by sticking labels on doors in the name of surveys.
While acknowledging Yathindra’s emotional attachment to his father, Ashoka emphasized that comparing Siddaramaiah to a visionary like Nalwadi was “laughable, baseless, and a gross insult” to the late king.
In his concluding remarks, Ashoka slammed the government for ignoring farmers’ needs despite an early monsoon. He accused the administration of being caught up in internal power struggles and negligence, forcing farmers into despair. “This government will not be spared from the curse of the farmers,” he warned.
