Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday reported a total of 24 new COVID-19 cases taking the total tally of cases in the District to 105, according to the latest health bulletin issued by Health and Family Welfare Department.
In the bulletin issued on Thursday afternoon, the District had reported six new cases while it again reported 18 new cases in the latest bulletin issued on Thursday evening.
According to the bulletin all the 18 cases reported on Thursday evening had arrived in the District from Mumbai. This is the highest single day spike of cases the District has so far reported ever since it reported the first case on March 22. The District crossed 100-cases mark on 69th day after reporting the first case.
The District Administration had relaxed the Corona lockdown after the COVID-19 patients of the District had recovered from the virus and were discharged from the hospital but the second wave of cases from the people who arrived in the District from other states and abroad has once again created panic among the local residents.

Srinagar (PTI): Property worth Rs 1 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler was on Saturday attached in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar, police said.
A double-storey house on eight marlas of land situated at Wantpora Eidgah, belonging to Basit Bilal Dar, a notorious drug peddler, valued at approximately Rs 1 crore, a police spokesperson said.
He said Dar is involved in two cases registered under various sections of the NDPS Act.
During investigation, it was established that the accused had acquired the said property through illicit proceeds generated from drug trafficking activities, the spokesperson said.
Consequently, the property was attached under the provisions of the NDPS Act. The attachment proceedings were conducted in the presence of the two independent witnesses, strictly in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures, he said.
As per the attachment order, the owner has been restrained from selling, leasing, transferring, altering, or creating any third-party interest in the property till further orders, the spokesperson added.
