New Delhi: All the aspirants of Congress ticket for Dakshina Kannada constituency and district leaders took part in a meeting at AICC General Secretary and Karnataka’s AICC In-charge KC Venugopal residence in Delhi on Thursday.
According to the sources the Congress high command will zero-in on the candidate from the constituency after party’s Central Election Committee’s meeting on Friday.
Sources also added that Ramanath Rai, Vinay Kumar Sorake, BK Hariprasad and Mithun Rai are the forerunners for the Congress ticket.
Ticket aspirants Ramanath Rai, BK Hariprasad, Vinay Kumar Sorake, Kanchur Monu, Mithun Rai, Mamata Gatti, Dhananjay Adpangayya, MLC Ivan D’Souza and District In-charge minister U.T Khader were present in the meeting along with all the former legislators of Congress from Dakshina Kannada who lost during Karnataka assembly elections last year.
According to reports Venugopal has been assured by the District’s party leaders that irrespective of who gets the ticket from party’s high command, they will all be united in the run-up to the election and will make sure party’s victory in the constituency.
Earlier in the day, the BJP announced that sitting MP from the constituency Nalin Kumar Kateel will contest on party's ticket for the third consecutive time, ending speculations that non-performance by the two-time MP would lead to him losing on the party ticket.

UAE: Abu Dhabi residents and expatriates received emergency alerts on their mobile phones on Saturday, February 28 afternoon amid reports of explosions in the city, warning of “potential missile threats.”
Mobile phones across the UAE capital buzzed as the alerts were issued, prompting people to take immediate safety precautions.
The message, reportedly shared by the Ministry of Interior, read, “Due to current situation, a potential missile threats, Seek immediate shelter in the closest secure building, and to steer away from windows, doors, and open areas. Await for further instructions. (MOI).”
Several users took to X to share screenshots and videos of the alerts and the situation in the city. Multiple posts circulated online as people reacted to the warnings issued across Abu Dhabi.

The alerts came hours after Iran on Saturday attacked Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Qatar’s Doha, and Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh, according to the information shared, following joint strikes conducted by Israel and the US on Iran.
