Bengaluru: Social activist Girish Mattannavar has stated that when Chinnayya personally revealed, in detail, the information about the bodies allegedly buried illegally in Dharmasthala, including those of victims of rape and murder, Nirmalananda Swamiji was stunned.

Posting about this on Instagram, he said that Chinnayya disclosed, point by point, not only the details of Sowjanya’s rape and murder but also other illegal killing cases before the seer. “Sowjanya was an innocent Vokkaliga girl, but justice is needed for innocent lives of every community. We stand with your struggle, the Math stands with you. I will meet the Chief Minister tomorrow itself and inform him about this issue, and we will try to secure justice for the distressed. Kaalabhairava is with you on this Kaalabhairava Sunday; be courageous,” the seer is said to have assured.

Girish added that after the Kaalabhairava darshan at the Vokkaliga Mahasamsthana, the revered Nirmalananda Guru blessed the Sowjanya justice movement and offered his protection while seated on his peetha, calling it a divine moment for all the activists.

He questioned whether it was a “conspiracy” when powerful Vokkaliga political leaders, who are known for their influence, failed to secure justice for a Vokkaliga girl like Sowjanya and instead sided with the influential family accused in the murder case, but a spiritual leader chose to bless the struggle.

He further asked, “What is wrong if the Vokkaliga family of the brutally raped and murdered girl, along with activists, seeks the blessings of the Vokkaliga seer for justice? How is that a conspiracy? Let the filthy political leaders and the sold-out media answer these questions.”

Girish Mattannavar also stated that at a time when political leaders remained blind and mute spectators to the serial rape-and-murder horror in Dharmasthala, Nirmalananda Swamiji stood up and provided moral strength to Bhageeratha Timarodi, who has been fighting relentlessly for justice. “The entire human race should feel proud of him,” he said. “Now let the dirty political leaders and some gutter-eating media tell us — where is the conspiracy? Who is the shark? Who are the urban Naxals?”

In a special note, he warned social media users not to dismiss the photos as “AI-generated.” “Those who spread such falsehoods and lose sleep over it should send it to the Fact Check Lab and fix their brains,” he wrote, using the hashtag #JusticeForSoujanya.

Belagavi: The state cabinet under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reportedly given its nod to permit cricket matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, subject to certain conditions.

The decision is learnt to have been taken after a meeting held at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha here on Thursday.

Reports indicate that Home Minister Dr G. Parameshwara has been directed to formulate rules along with a referendum to hold a cricket match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The cabinet’s approval comes subject to conditions, considering the report of Justice D’Cunha, which was prepared after the stampede.

The June 4 stampede during the celebrations for RCB’s maiden IPL title killed 11 people, which raised serious questions over the stadium's capability to host large-scale events.

Will RCB be playing at their home ground next year?

Stating that the “state had learned from the tragedy,” Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday, December 08, dismissed the talks about shifting Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s home games out of the city.

He also said that the Chinnaswamy Stadium is the “pride of Bengaluru and Karnataka” and vowed that IPL fixtures will continue to be played there.

On Wednesday, Shivakumar met the newly elected KSCA president Venkatesh Prasad at the Circuit House in Belagavi and reiterated that cricket matches, including IPL fixtures, will not be shifted out of Bengaluru.

“We have no intention of stopping matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium, but crowd control measures and the Michael D. Cunha committee’s recommendations will be implemented in phases,” he told reporters.

Shivakumar said the government is committed to promoting cricket and supporting fans while safeguarding the state’s reputation, adding that Prasad had sought the government’s cooperation and agreed to work jointly on the issue.
