Magnaluru: The South Assembly Constituency of Mangaluru Congress staged a protest in front of the DC office here on Tuesday, condemning the rape and murder case of an eight-year-old Kashmiri girl and the rape committed by an MLA in Uttar Pradesh.

Addressing the protestors, MLA JR Lobo said that the Uttar Pradesh government should tender resignation taking moral responsibility for the Unnao rape case. Besides, the government should submit the incident’s detailed report to the central government.

Harish Kumar, DK Congress district president, also spoke at the occasion and said ‘the government that was failed in Gujarat is now ruling on us.

Congress party’s district secretary Kallige Taranath, Mahabal Marla, Ibrahim Kodijal, Praveenchandra Alva, BG Suvarna, TK Sudheer, Vishwanath Kumar Das and others were present.

The protest was started with a silent prayer. Later, the protestors started raising slogans against the BJP.

Vijayapura (Karnataka), Oct 23: A 21-year-old woman died of head injuries after falling off a ranger swing ride at an exhibition ground here, police said on Wednesday.

They said it happened around 7 pm on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Nikitha Biradar.

Biradar had gone to the exhibition ground with her mother and some friends.

According to police, the victim fell off the ride from a height after her safety bar broke and the safety belt she was wearing ripped.

She sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at a hospital, a senior police official said.

He said a case has been registered against the event manager and the ride operator under section 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
