Puttur: MLA Ashok Kumar Rai appealed to the public not to uproot flower plants brought from Hyderabad, which have been planted along the divider on the Puttur-Uppinangady road. In a public appeal on Saturday, he requested people to refrain from damaging these plants, mats, and water pipes and instead support the development efforts in the area.
The appeal was made during an inspection of the Puttur-Uppinangady road project along with officials from the Forest and Social Forestry departments and the Public Works Department (PWD). Speaking to the media, Ashok Kumar Rai stated that a budget of Rs 20 crore has been sanctioned for developing this road, aiming to make it a model project.
Requesting people to avoid tampering with the plants, he urged the public to report anyone damaging them by capturing photos and submitting them to the police.
He also informed that road repairs between Berike and Nekkiladi had been impacted by recent rains, but contractors would soon complete the necessary repair and maintenance work. Additionally, the Bolwar-Harady, Sediapu-Kodimbady, and Nekkiladi sections will begin work on the four-lane expansion later this year.
He further added that an additional request for Rs 5 crore has been submitted to the government for installing street lights along the divider, with the aim of completing a fully developed four-lane road between Puttur and Uppinangady.
Accompanying him during the inspection were PWD Assistant Executive Engineer Rajaram, Assistant Engineer Tausif, Social Forestry Officer Vidya Rani, Deputy Forest Officer Yashodhara K., and several local leaders.

Indore(PTI): Gujarat's wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel slammed the fastest T20 century by an Indian during his team's Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Tripura here on Wednesday, reaching the three-figure mark in just 28 balls.
This comes exactly a year after he smashed the second-fastest hundred by an Indian in List-A cricket.
The 26-year-old Urvil bettered Rishabh Pant's record for the fastest T20 hundred by an Indian. The India wicket-keeper had blazed away to a 32-ball century against Himachal Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2018.
Urvil's ton is the second-fastest in T20 cricket, only behind Estonia's Sahil Chauhan, whose hundred against Cyprus came in 27 balls.
Opening the innings, Urvil struck seven fours and 12 sixes on his way to an unbeaten 113 off a mere 35 balls, as Gujarat completed a chase of 156 in 10.2 overs.
Earlier in the week, Urvil had gone unsold in the Indian Premier League player auction.
Exactly on this day last year, after being released by Gujarat Titans, Urvil scored an unbeaten 41-ball 100 for Gujarat in their Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Arunachal Pradesh in Chandigarh.
Urvil's century was the second-fastest by an Indian batter in List A cricket.
