Bantwal: A 47-year old man died while another pillon rider sustained injuries when the two-wheeler they were travelling in was hit by a truck in Punjalkatte of Bantwal Taluk here on Friday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Ibrahim (47), a resident of Sorikumer. The accident took place near Kukkipadi in Bantwal Taluk.

Ibrahim was reportedly returning home after visiting a relative’s house in Karkala with his daughter when he was hit by a tempo truck, critically injuring both Ibrahim and his daughter.

Both the victims were rushed to local hospital for treatment but Ibrahim succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital. Ibrahim’s daughter has been shifted to a private hospital in Moodabidri for further treatment.

Punjalkatte Police visited the spot and a case has been registered in this regard.

Riyadh: The United States Embassy in Saudi Arabia has advised American citizens to reconsider travel to the country, including participation in the annual Hajj pilgrimage, amid the ongoing regional conflict.

In a travel advisory, the embassy urged US nationals to exercise caution and review their plans in light of the current security situation.

It specifically advised Americans to reconsider “participation in Hajj this year” to the holy city of Mecca.
